Speed, Spirit, and Community: Highlights from the Panhandle Relays

There’s something magical about small-town Texas track meets, and this year’s Panhandle Relays delivered that magic in spades. Despite a packed schedule, I couldn’t miss this special gathering of our community’s finest athletes, and I’m grateful I didn’t.

The meet brought together talented athletes from both Panhandle High and West Plains, creating an atmosphere of friendly competition and mutual respect that defines our Texas Panhandle spirit.

The hurdles events provided some of the day’s most spectacular moments, with athletes showcasing their technical prowess and determination.

West Plains athletes brought their competitive spirit to every event, demonstrating why the Wolves are a force to be reckoned with on the track.

The day was made even more special as we celebrated our beloved meet starter, Popeye, whose birthday coincided with the event.

His steady hand and familiar voice have been starting races for years, helping create memories for countless young athletes.
