I’ve been looking forward to writing my Top 5 Coffee Shops in Amarillo, TX, for a while now. Coffee and I have a long-term, dedicated relationship with one another. Trying out all that Amarillo, TX has to offer in this space has been fun (and delicious), to say the least.
Each of these coffee shops has its own unique atmosphere and distinct flare worth stopping in for. Some are edgy and modern, some are perfect for a grab-and-go beverage, and others feel like you have stepped into a Hallmark movie. That’s what I love about this list; there is a place for everyone to enjoy great coffee. Without further ado, let’s get on with the Top 5 Coffee Shops in Amarillo, TX! (IMHO)

Ok, while Ziggi’s is technically a franchise, they are locally owned. The non-coffee drink options and additional food seclection gave them the edge and earned Ziggi’s the top spot on the list.
They are dedicated to serving only the finest roasted coffee, uniquely handcrafted drinks, and amazing, locally-made breakfast, lunch, and snack options.
This is a great choice if you want a little something more than a muffin or kolache. They are committed to making a positive difference in our community, and our Amarillo location is locally owned by Floyd and Becky Lane. They are also supporters of our local sports community via Press Pass Sports.
From its beginnings a little over 10 years ago in Canyon, TX, Palace Coffee Co. now has multiple locations across the Amarillo area. Each location has its own distinctive vibe, but all are cohesive in the warm, modern, and minimalistic design. As a local roaster, Palace prides itself on its one-of-a-kind, in-house blends that create devoted patrons that return time and again for its distinctive tastes. The baristas are highly knowledgeable, friendly, and stick true to their mantra of “Be Kind and Serve Great Coffee.”
Because of the popular demand, Palace also offers coffee cart catering for any occasion. Two baristas will meet you wherever your party or get-together may be and serve unlimited drinks for two hours. Perhaps you are looking for a venue to host your next gathering with friends and family or coordinate a meeting with your employees. Palace also rents out space in their locations, and their Summit location even has a dedicated conference space. Whatever the reason for your visit, Palace Coffee Co. offers all the bells and whistles for coffee and gatherings in Amarillo, TX.
As their name implies, Roasters is a local coffee roaster in Amarillo, TX. Established in 1992, Roasters has a long history as a local favorite. Sourcing their coffee from sustainable farming sources, Roasters has built outstanding and responsible partnerships with coffee farmers worldwide. Offering multiple blends of coffee, including the highly sought-after Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee, this coffee shop is a great place to become more familiar with various coffee roasts.
Every location of Roasters feels like a down-to-earth, West Texas coffee shop. For lack of a better explanation, it feels like Amarillo. Perhaps it is because they have been a staple of the community for so long. Or maybe they can make every corner of their shops welcoming to customers new and old. Whatever the reason, Roasters is easily considered the embodiment of local coffee in Amarillo and a must-visit for any coffee and tea lover.
Located across the street from Texas Tech Health Sciences Center, BSA, and Northwest Texas Hospital, this relaxed and quiet coffee bar is known best by the hospital staff and graduate students from the university. Strata Coffee Bar roasts its own blends of espresso and coffee in-house, so you are guaranteed some of the freshest caffeine in the city. Having years of experience in the coffee business, the owners are well aware of what flavor profiles are sure to please the masses.
In addition, Strata also offers a wide assortment of loose leaf teas. Everything from white to black to green, they have perfected the process of steeping, setting precise timers on each individual cup of tea they make. Not sure what to try? Just ask any of the baristas. No matter how busy the shop gets, they always take the time to make you exactly what you are craving.
The atmosphere of the shop can be described as rustic industrial. Exposed A/C ducts contrast nicely with the wood accents and large windows. Comfy couches in the corners, tables in the middle, and an extra-long bar made of butcher block provide ample seating for studying, visiting, or working remotely.
Located right on historic Route 66, 806 Coffee + Lounge is the hub for all things coffee, art, and edge for Amarillo. The small lounge is decorated with paintings from local artists who push the boundaries of the visual spectrum, offering less than traditional views on the world around them. Offering the longest-running open mic night in Amarillo, 806 Coffee is a great spot to spend with friends every second and fourth Wednesday of the month.
In addition to the more improvised voices of those who choose to participate in karaoke, there is also First Thursday Art + Music every month. 806 Features a local artist at 7pm, live music at 9pm and drink specials all night.
806 Coffee + Lounge offers an entirely different flavor than that of the rest of Amarillo. The lounge feels like it has been transplanted out of 6th Street Austin, TX and placed on 6th Avenue Amarillo, TX. The grunge vibes and distinctive flavors of their coffee give locals and visitors alike a different perspective of what Amarillo has to offer. Despite being outside of the “normal” coffee shop for the area, 806 Coffee + Lounge is worth visiting if you are looking for something different.
