Generosity in the Panhandle never ceases to amaze me!
I have experienced kindness and generosity in many places around the world. However, the outreach of small town people extending their support to their neighbors is one of my favorite things to be a part of.
Several weeks ago, I was out at the Region 1-2A track meet on West Texas A&M campus in Canyon, TX, and received a call from a Panhandle, Texas native. In our brief conversation, he expressed his desire to pay for the ENTIRE Panhandle track team’s pictures. Not sure I heard him right the first time, I asked if he meant a specific Panhandle track athlete. Correcting me, he repeated himself: He wanted me to take pictures of every single Panhandle athlete at the regional track meet!
Surprises like this are the best one’s to watch unfold. Seeing the shocked, but joyful, faces of the athletes and their families when I told them what the anonymous donor was gifting them was priceless. What made this even more special is that Panhandle swept the meet, coming in first place.
To you generous donor, I want to say thank you for spreading the generous spirit of West Texas and paying it forward for others to follow in your footsteps. To all the athletes that competed from Panhandle ISD, you have people in your community that really love you. Don’t forget that!
Here are some of my favorites from that special day.
