What a change of scenery the Amarillo area has seen in the last week!
Rain like we haven’t seen in years has flooded our very dry area, making the sky an awesome moving artwork in the evenings. The photographer in me couldn’t pass up the opportunity to grab a few shots of the ominous clouds against the vibrancy of the setting sun.
We are so lucky here to have the flat plains that allow us to see for literal miles into the distance. It makes for some highly dimensional portraits with tons of texture and color. Some of my favorites are where you can see the clouds giving way to the rain. The contrast between the red dirt, green grass, shades of yellow and orange against the dark, gray-blue of the clouds is truly a masterpiece of Mother Nature. Check out the gallery!
